Jana Pittman says she loves Australia and couldn't leave after
her record-breaking 400 meters hurdles victory last night." I am
staying in Australia, I love this place," the gold medallist was
reported saying.
Newspaper reports leading up to the Games had suggested Pittman
was tired of the media pressure and was considering a
move to England.
"We basically do time here and time there but I have two huge
dogs and they aren't going to be liking the trip very often so we
will have to stay here," she said.
Pittman said she and her fiancé, Englishman Chris Rawlinson, who
came last in the men's 400m hurdles final last night, will continue
splitting their time between Australia and England.
Pittman also paid tribute to the sell-out MCG crowd, saying the
support of 83,000 spectators helped her over the line.
"It really felt like they sort of lifted you over every hurdle
and I don't think, no matter what went wrong or what happened in
that race, there was no way I was going to be able to contain
myself. It was fantastic".
